Open Position: Executive Director / CEO

The Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce searching for an executive director/chief executive officer. The Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce is the largest business-focused organization in Putnam County, N.Y. It has about 400 members and works to advance economic development in the community by promoting member businesses as well as sponsoring community, cultural, and business events.

The Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Directors.
The position is located in Mahopac, N.Y.

The responsibilities:
Overseeing all activities related to operations, business development, promotion and communication.
Press relations, online promotion (Facebook and other social media sites) and maintaining a website (WordPress).
Develop and implement programs that support the organization’s mission as well as overseeing the planning and execution of events.
General and financial management of the Chamber including AP/AR, annual budget, employee supervision and office procedures.
Maintain a good working relationship with chamber members, community stakeholders, institutions and public officials.
Report to the executive committee and Board of Directors on all matters related to the organizations’ operations and programs. Report directly to the Board Chairman as required daily.
Serve as spokesperson for the chamber and represent the chamber publicly.
Assess the ‘political/government landscape’ to determine how to properly and effectively guide programs through to completion.

Qualifications:
At least five years of experience in a leadership role for a non-profit corporation.
A minimum of three years of relevant experience working in business development or community planning.
Knowledge of Mahopac-Carmel business community with existing relationships with local business owners and government officials.
Understanding and ease in dealing with private industry and the public sector.
Strong English writing and communication skills, including experience in producing publications.
Excellent administrative and computer skills. Quickbooks familiarity will be a plus.
A proven ability to work independently and find creative solutions to challenges.

Annual salary commensurate with experience.
